Guest Speaker: Dr. Vetaley Shoshenko, ND, PhD was introduced by Rob Messineo. Dr. Shoshenko spoke on the hive as a medicine chest. He works with the American Apitherapy Society, worked as a commercial beekeeper for 7 years in the U.S. He began with bees in 1963 in the Ukraine.  Dr. Shoshenko emphasized that naturopathy is based on the idea that each individual is responsible for their own health and knows their own body the best.  Bee Pollen has been identified as ‘nature’s perfect food’ and a good source of energy containing vitamins, proteins, free amino acids, antibiotic like substances and enzymes.   It has been used to treat over 70 diseases from alcoholism to eye problems at doses from a maintance of 1-2 T. per day to up to 5 T. per day for acute problems.  Pollen will spoil if left out so should be removed from a pollen collector after no more than a ˝ day.  Royal Jelly is almost pure amino acids so must be taken in moderation but has been used for more severe and acute problems such as asthma, cancer, depression, and others.  He also discussed bee stings, diluted venom, and propolis.
